A CLOCKWORK ORANGE

The novel is written using an invented language, Nadsat, and it is about the deterioration of society, and young gangs in violent acts.

I felt it was important to develop an original typeface for the cover to reflect the invented language in the book. The book deals with themes of chaos (free will) and order. I printed mechanical objects in order to create the cover, representing the ordered, mechanical processes of society, but organised into a chaotic, claustrophobic composition that reflects the contradiction between order and chaos in society.
